Westchester County Commercial Driver Lawyers
Protecting Your CDL License
A motorist with a commercial driver's license (CDL) does not drive
for leisure but drives to earn a living and to support a family. Protecting
that license is protecting that person's livelihood. At Riebling,
Proto & Sachs, LLP, we take every possible step to protect professional
drivers and their CDL license.
No matter what class of license (A, B, C) or special endorsement (i.e.,
passenger, school bus, double/triple (T), Tank (N) or HazMat (H, X, Z))
protecting that license is our primary concern.
When can a CDL license be in jeopardy?
Traffic violations and convictions will put a CDL license in jeopardy,
therefore any criminal infraction or even a traffic ticket must be aggressively defended.
The following is basic information every CDL holder must be made aware of:
- Two serious traffic violations within 3 years will result in a suspension/revocation
of your CDL license for 60 days.
- Three serious traffic violations within 3 years will result in a suspension/revocation
for your CDL license for 120 days.
- Any alcohol or drug conviction will result in a one year loss of a CDL
license and a second conviction will result in a permanent loss of that
- Equipment violations can also result in the vehicle needing to be repaired
and/or a suspension of a CDL license for serious equipment violations.
